What a whirlwind this year has been! Last summer, I contacted an editor at Callisto Media to ask if they had any freelance projects. She noticed a link to an Enneagram e-book in my message signature, and asked if Kacie Berghoef and I would like to write an Enneagram book for them. Several months later, The Modern Enneagram is a reality: published in paperback and Kindle editions, and sold out of the first run on day one. The next batch will be in stock on Monday, so it’s good news all around.
This was a fun project to write! The publisher wanted a modern update to the Enneagram classics that have been around for 20 or so years, so we put together a breezy yet comprehensive book with case studies, references to social media and modern careers, and other ways of presenting the source material in a contemporary context.
If you don’t know what the Enneagram is, our book gives a solid introduction to this profound, growth-oriented personality system. It profiles nine personality types, each motivated by something different, and applies the Enneagram’s insights at work, in relationships, and for personal growth. If you’re familiar with the system, there will still be fresh insights in the book. It was important to me to write about using the Enneagram as a foundation for understanding yourself and living with integrity – something far deeper and more practical than a game of “numbering” people.
You can read an excerpt called “Solving Problems at Work” here.
Here I am with a box full of fresh, new books. Aren’t they a good-looking bunch? I love the watercolor cover design.
